Try adding elements of the television show Survivor to Field Day. Organize activities in which the students work together in groups. Call these groups “tribes” and name them. In advance of your special day, have students create flags to represent their tribes. Decorate your event space with island flair, including unlit tiki torches. Encourage friendly and respectful competition between tribes. Remind youngsters to be supportive of their tribe mates with “Field Day Is Cool! Do Your Best, Cheer On Others” Ribbons. When everyone is ready to leave the island, distribute gifts from the “Field Day Is Cool!” Theme Kit.
